AFRICAN (D'JEMBE) DRUM          

Class focuses on the teaching of traditional African rhythms (music) & language through the usage of drums ex. D'jembe, Doun Doun, Ken Keni, & Sangba.

Level I

This class teaches students of all ages basic rhythms and hand patterns. Students learn drumming as well as songs. Students are taught music from Guinea, Ghana, Brazil, as well as instructors' own arrangements.

Level II

This class teaches students how to compose music as well as play music on a more difficult level. Students are taught to play mainly traditional D'jembe music from Mali and Guinea. This is a performing class that allows them to also learn choreography, which creates movement with the drums. Only students that are selected by instructors will be allowed to attend this class.
